masunt, a brand belongs to the German company Resatur GmbH,is founded by Stephan Untiedt and Markus Schacht in 2014. They started the business with the idea of making the key handover contactless. After few years of innovation and development, today they offering various smart solutions for key management in different sectors, such as holiday houses/hotels, public authorities (hospital, libraries…), private homes and etc. We got the chance to know each other at the trade fair-Security Essen in 2018, while both of us were seeking for reliable business partners. After two years of continuous contact and communication, BeeSecure and masunt decided to establish the partnership to distribute BeeSecure’s products in German speaking markets. In this blog, one of the founders, Markus Schacht, will talk about his company and business, as well as his prospects for this cooperation.

BeeSecure:

Resatur GmbH with its brand masunt mainly offers a range of products associated with key handover/management. How did you get the idea or concept for starting this business?

Markus

Guests of our own rental home mentioned that they like to arrive late and that they like to be flexible when to arrive at the accommodation. My co-founder Stephan and I experienced, that to give remote access for third parties like guests or co-workers, becomes a more and more demand nowadays. That is why we developed solutions for handing over keys and or to give remote access directly.

BeeSecure:

Markus, can you briefly talk about who are your customers? Or which industries can benefit from your solutions?

Markus

Our customers are -in B2C context- private persons, who want to give access to family members or guests to their houses or rental appartements.

In B2B context, our customers are looking for remote access for own staff or external service providers to their company facilities, such as warehouses, offices and production sites.

Furthermore, we deliver to e. g. home care services, hotels, public authorities.

BeeSecure:

From where do you know about BeeSecure and why did you start the cooperation with BeeSecure?

Markus

More and more of our masunt key safe customers asked to enhance our solutions for remote access. The customers looked for an access control solution direct at the door via PIN Code and APP, and also with Smart Home functionalities. On trade fair Essen in 2018 we were searching for the right partner and found -among others- the exhibition stand of BeeSecure, made contact and engaged in proofing the products and service. After this intense proof of quality of hard- and software, we were happy to start cooperating and distributing in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

BeeSecure:

Can you tell us more about the current smart home security market in Germany? Look into the future, what opportunities do you see with cooperating with BeeSecure?

Markus

The Smart Home market in Germany becomes very diverse with lots of suppliers and offerings. But one has to be careful and choose the right provider with certified hardware and secure software as well.

We saw, that BeeSecure did not only enhance functionality of the electronical lock itself and the additional smart home items such as smoke detector, movement sensor and door- and window contact, but also got officially proven quality by Dutch authority SKG.

The security of the profile cylinder as well as the APP functions and data protection is – from our point of view- outstanding in the market right now.

BeeSecure:

How did the COVID-19 impact your business in the past year? Do you have any business plan to cope with the crisis in 2021?

Markus

Actually COVID-19 lead to rising demand of remote access without the need of opening a door with human staff. Furthermore, the acceptance of digital solutions has been increased during home office times. This is why we believe of rising impact of BeeSecure solution in and after Corona time.

As what Markus mentioned, many reports also show that smart home security market is expected to do well in post-pandemic world. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people are not spending money on traveling, restaurants and other forms of entertainment. This leaves more disposable income for household upgrading projects for security and convenience, and a better experience to work/study from home. Especially, consumers are showing a demand for devices such as smart locks, to reduce face-to-face interaction. Therefore, Germany as the largest share of the European smart home market during the forecast period, we see a lot of potential opportunities in the future.
